I have an amp with HDMI inputs. When I connect my source component to the display device directly, all is OK, however it will not operate when connected via HDMI through the amp, is my amp faulty?

HDMI is a complex connection. In order to communicate with other devices, protocols are used. These communications are two way. In order to operate directly to a display device, different protocols are required to communicating through an intermediate device (called a repeater). These repeater protocols are required by your source component to work through the amps HDMI repeater. We would suggest contacting your dealer or manufacture of the source equipment to see if a firmware upgrade is available to allow HDMI repeater support.
