If you disinfect the bathwater with chlorine in such a way that the chlorine level is at least 0.5 mg per liter and the pH-value is between 6.8 and 7.8, you are not at risk for contamination. As soon as the whirlpool is no longer used it is advised to disinfect the whirlpool and the pipes and to check the pH-value. For disinfecting the whirlpool you may use disinfectants and cleansing agents for pools, for sale at pool dealers etc.
