I have a unique volunteer program. Do volunteers need FBI fingerprint checks?

0

Volunteers, such as DADS Foster Grandparents, or parent volunteers in Head Start centers, who are not employed by the operation, who are not counted in the child/caregiver ratio, and who do not have unsupervised access to children in care do not require FBI fingerprint checks. Also, volunteers who are needed only to fulfill “supplemental” child/caregiver ratios for field trip or swimming activities do not require FBI fingerprint checks. However, DFPS still requires name-based background checks on all volunteers that are regularly or frequently present at the child-care operation while children are in care.
