I have a Priority 1 NHP, what will happen to it after June 30th if I have not applied for a product licence by then?
If a product licence application has not been submitted for a product containing a Priority 1 NHPs by June 30, 2004, the product will be removed from sale at the manufacturer, importer, distributor and wholesaler level and shipments will be refused at the border. Industry is advised that multi-product shipments will risk being returned to sender if they contain a Priority 1 product for which a product licence application has not been submitted by June 30, 2004. Products will need a valid market authorization prior to continued importation and sale in Canada. Known retailers will be informed that the product must have a product licence to be sold in Canada. Where there is no known manufacturer, distributor or importer, the retailer may be considered to be the importer and will be asked to remove the product from the shelves.
