Some newer laptop computers do not have standard serial ports. Instead, they have only USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports. This is not a show-stopper, however, because inexpensive adapters are available to connect a USB port to a standard serial device. The only limitation is that you must use a version of Windows that supports USB devices. Generally, all of the 32-bit versions of Windows support USB devices, except for Windows NT, and most versions of Windows 95. We have tested the Baumannator TCS and its tuning software with the BAFO Technologies BF-810 USB to Serial Adapter, and it works flawlessly. Other available adapters may also work, but we have not yet tested any other models.
