Need a Media Center Extender which hooks up to your TV and connects it with your PC. Xbox 360 can be a Media Center Extender. A few DVD players are Media Center Extenders. Some wireless Media Centers Extenders are also available. PC can only record using a tuner card. Most tuner cards are for over the air channels or cable. Some tuner cards can connect to your set top box either cable or satellite to switch to the correct channel using an IR adapter and record it using RCA or S-Video. Not very high quality video but it can do the job but it’ll take some know how to setup. Much easier just to get a DVR from your Satellite Company or Cable Company. Some set top boxes have firewall which if your computer has firewire ports it can be used to record on whatever channel you have on. This is raw video feed so need a PC, storage, and software that can handle it and compress it to divx or something else. If you want free DVR get a tuner card for the PC and record OTA channels. If you just want
