I have a Magnavox VCR Model VRU 240 that will play for about an hour and then shut down. What would be the likely cause?
On the “Will Play for an hour” question, I would check the mode switch.. Clean it or replace. Also, check reel table and clean reels, sensors to reels, etc. Possible sluggish movement at the reel table (including the tension portion), watch unit as it plays. Do you have a PseudoCassette to do this?
