The recommended oil is either AMSOIL Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy-Duty Diesel Oil (HDD) or AMSOIL Synthetic 15W-40 Heavy-Duty Diesel and Marine Motor Oil (AME). HDD is preferred for better performance in cold weather, improved fuel economy, and mixed diesel and gasoline engine fleets. HDD has greater film strength and improved anti-wear additives giving better protection than conventional 15W-40 mineral-based oils. AME is a premium oil meeting many manufacturers’ recommendations for viscosity. It is superior to competitive 15W-40 oils and costs less than HDD.
