Cycling is an end-of-life characteristic of an HPS lamp. Chances are, you only need to replace the lamp and the cycling will stop. As long as the lamp cycles, the ignitor is working correctly. Also note that two manufacturers recently introduced non-cycling HPS lamps of 50 to 400 watts.
