I have a Chief Architect plan that I need to open in AutoCAD. How do I convert it to .dxf or .dwg?
ANSWER Converting a Chief Architect plan file into a two-dimensional AutoCAD-compatible .dxf or .dwg file is easy to do using the Export Tools. To export to .dxf/.dwg • Open the Chief Architect plan that you would like to export to .dxf or .dwg format. • If you want to export a view other than floor plan view to .dxf or .dwg, open that view or create it using the appropriate 3D or CAD tool. • Select File> Export> Current View (DXF/DWG) from the menu. • In the Export Drawing File dialog: • Browse to the directory on your computer where you wish to save the .dwg file. • From the AutoCAD Compatible drop-down list, select which version of AutoCAD you want the file to be compatible with. • Click Save to export the current view to .dxf or .dwg format. • For additional information about the options in the Export Drawing File dialog, click the Help button on the right side of the dialog box.MORE INFORMATION For additional information, consult the Importing & Exporting chapter of the Chief Arch
