I have a bounty on my head but the guards are no longer trying to arrest me, instead theyre trying to kill me on sight. Whats up with that?

Thats because youve got a bounty of over 5000 gold on your head. The guards are now no longer trying to arrest you but kill you. Theyve issued a death-warrant on you. You can still get rid of your bounty by joining the thieves guild. The death-warrant, however, will remain. The guards will not forget it. If youre on PC you can get rid of this warrant by using the console, X-Box users have bad luck. Librarian27 also provided a way of getting rid of this death-warrant.
