I have a 6 foot USB cable. If I switch to a 3 foot cable, will the data transfer faster?
All other things being equal, data will transfer about 3 nanoseconds faster on a 3′ cable than a 6′ cable (speed of light = approx. 1 ft/nanosecond). I can’t imagine you’d notice the difference. As noted by others, the main thing that longer cables introduce is more ‘noise’, but the difference between a 3′ cable and a 6′ cable in negligible.
