Sort of depends on the space it’s in, and what other furniture will be near the rug… you could get a round 54 inch carpet, that way people’s feet are on the carpet, but the chairs feet won’t be… otherwise… make sure you get a carpet that’s big enough so that it’s easy to pull chairs in and out from the area where people will sit to eat. The whole chair should always be either on or off the carpet, not half way, even when you pull the chair out to sit, the person sitting should never have to lift the chair over the edge of the carpet.
