I have a 3 foot ball python right now, I was wondering if i can feed it rabbits when its full grown?
Chances are it will never get big enough to eat anything bigger than large possibly jumbo rats if it is a large female. Now i have fed ball pythons rabbit pups, (they were picked up by a construction worker at a site) but they are considerably small. There are small breeds of rabbits but it is sometimes hard for a breeder to kill something that “cuddly”. Prey items do sometimes fight back mice, rats and rabbits. I have seen a rat fight a 4 foot ball python so bad that the owner had to remove the rat and he was bitten by the rat as well as the snake was bitten. People have brought in snakes to our store giving them back because it wouldn’t eat a rabbit. The poor snake was a 8 foot albino green Burmese python. He had several injuries, scratches down his back, sides, and face, one just missing his eye. He was very aggressive after wards. I don’t blame him. No one would handle him and no one would feed him because he often stuck at the glass at passerby. I was bitten by him once but that d
Nope, sorry to tell ya, you need a boa or a burmese python if you want to feed it rabbits, and boas must grow for a good long while before they can take a rabbit. However, a full sized, well cared for ball python can eat jumbo rats when it’s big enough – thats a big big rat too, if you’re after it for entertainment value only, then…well…just love your pet for what it is and be happy with what it can do.
No, an adult male ball python gets to me 5 feet long max depending on quality and quantity of food its given, and an adult female ball python gets to be 6 feet long depending on quality and quantity of food given. The biggest prey they can take is medium to large rats when full grown. Rabbits are way too big for balls to eat. Also if you try to feed it guinea pigs they are too big as well, but if it manages to take them it’ll rarely take rats or mice again. You should only feed rats, mice, or african soft fur rats that have been pre killed to prevent any harm to your snake. A 3 foot ball should eat large mice or crawler rats, those are the max three for a ball to safely take.
