Buying high quality bonds is a good idea if you do not need the money immediately. However, the amount you wish to invest (1,000 pounds or about 1,650 US dollars) may not be able to provide sufficient diversification, and you should consider a corporate bond fund.

An ISA may not earn much interest at present but a Premium Bond will earn no interest whatsoever. I bought my Bonds in the early 1960’s and to date I’ve not won a single penny. If you check the monthly draws you will find ( for some strange reason ) that the vast majority of winners all hold the maximum £30,000 worth and were all bought recently!

ignore the other one it is a spam you are better leaving the money where it is even though it does not earn much interest at least it is earning some which premium bonds don’t or you could shop around to see what interest you can get else where with the amount you have

I bought premium bonds for my sons when they were born. They are now 26 and 27 and have not won a penny. You pays your money you takes your choice.
