I had health coverage before enrolling with FIC and provided my HIPAA (Certificate of Creditable Coverage). Why do I still need to provide medical information?
If you had a gap of more than 63 days between your prior health coverage and your enrollment with FIC, we cannot count your prior coverage towards your 12-month waiting period for the coverage of pre-existing conditions. If you did not have a gap of more than 63 days between your prior coverage and enrollment with FIC, your prior coverage is counted toward your waiting period. However, if you were enrolled in prior coverage for less than 12 months, we can only count the number of months you were covered towards your waiting period. For example, if you were covered for 8 months on a prior plan without a gap in coverage before joining FIC, your waiting period for the coverage for pre-existing conditions would be reduced to 4 months. This waiting period would begin on your first day of coverage with FIC.
