I had a pen with brassed trim, so I polished it and applied a layer of clear nail polish to keep it looking bright. Does this pose a problem?

I dont recommend this protective approach, because the pens plastic can be damaged if any polish gets on it, and it is susceptible to damage again when a solvent must be applied to remove the polish. Obviously, I must remove the nail polish to restore the trim and there is a surcharge for this procedure.
