I find the misuse of the word “random” intolerable. Do I correct people or bow to popular culture?
While you have a legitimate complaint, correcting people who misuse words will get you labeled and probably regarded as a know-it-all jerk. I would correct people who know me and know that I’m a little anal retentive (because I’m the same way), but don’t correct people who don’t know you and love your quirks. It’s strange that this kind of thing bothers you so much, but, like I said, I’m the same way, and I have to just bite my tongue most of the time.
