Well, this means that the structure of the datafile involved is without actual filenames for the individual files. MC creates standard filenames for them starting from 0.MEX, 1.MEX, 2.MEX…and so on. It is up to you to find out what these files are. Are they sound files? Textfiles? Graphics? If you extracted them from a sound datafile, you should use a good sound editor to figure out their format. For instance, the sound files from Blood 1 are also extracted as *.MEX, but their format is Mono, 11025 mhz, 8 bit unsigned. As another example, the files from SW.RTS (Shadow Warrior) have no file extension (just called JG20934, JG35265 etc..), but a closer look at the files learns us that they are in fact Creative Voice Files (VOC). Any good sound editor should be able to pick up the format of sound files without looking at the file extension. 8.
