I downloaded DirectX9.0 SDK in order to use the Reference Rasterizer, but when I try to take screenshots the display goes all black. Why is that?

Ref. rast. renders the 3D frames completely in software, which is very slow. When the screen is black, the system is rendering the frame you requested, but it can take from a couple of seconds up to several hours.
