All TiVo recordings are saved within an encrypted TiVo wrapper, hence the .TiVo extension. With TiVo Desktop installed, you should be able to view these .TiVo files using most Windows media viewers. Several popular DVD authoring programs such as Toast 9 Titanium for OSX and Roxio Easy Media Creator and VideoRedo TVSuite (screenshot) for Windows now include direct support for .TiVo files. Other programs like TiVo Desktop Plus for Windows and Roxio Popcorn 3 for OSX can directly accept and convert these files into smaller versions for transfer to iPods and other portable video players.
