I don think Im smart enough to teach my kids, especially high schoolers. How much education do I need?
It is true that it is difficult to teach something that you aren’t comfortable with, for whatever reason. However, most curriculum sources have 1-800 numbers that you can call, websites, and teachers’ resources to help you. There are many options. If you just can’t seem to help your child through a particular subject, there may be someone in your support group that can help, or you may have to resort to a private tutor or tutoring facility like Sylvan. But keep this in mind: a loving, caring, dedicated parent is the best teacher for her child because she has the child’s best interest at heart and won’t quit looking for a teaching solution. That commitment is invaluable! The effort you put forth will also teach your child that life is a journey, not a destination – you never quit learning!
