I don take federal PAC money. Can I still receive donations through ActBlue?

Absolutely! Though ActBlue is registered as a federal PAC, we function very differently from other federal PACs. Unlike other political committees, we don’t make any direct contributions to federal candidates. All contributions that come through ActBlue are passed on to the candidates for whom they were intended. As a candidate, you have access to the names of the individual contributors. We aren’t sending you checks on behalf of ActBlue; we’re sending you aggregated individual contributions on behalf of your supporters. To read more about why candidates who refuse to take federal PAC money can still accept contributions through ActBlue in good faith, read this blog post by Stanford Professor Lawrence Lessig, who spearheaded the “Change Congress” movement.
