There are many reasons why a peron doesn’t meet the academic entry requirements but has the right skills, motivations and experiences for audiology. The most common two reasons are having a limited background in science or having been out of studying for many years. There are a number of ways of building one’s science background and brushing up one’s study skills. Here are a few: • Science Foundation Year (SFY) in science at the University of Southampton. This is a one-year course that covers various areas of fundamental science as preparation to a range of BSc degrees. If you wanted to do this as preparation for audiology, you should apply to the standard SFY indicating this clearly. Your application will then be processed by both SFY and BSc Audiology teams. If you are then made an offer for the SFY, you will be automatically transferred into year one of the BSc Audiology on successful completion of the SFY.
