I don have an existing network. Can I still use the EthIR LAN with several infrared devices in a closed stand-alone environment?
Yes. A closed “workgroup” environment can exist without having to uplink the EthIR Switch to an existing network. In this scenario several infrared devices connected to the EthIR Switch can share resources and communicate with each other, provide internet connectivity (if one device is connected to the Internet via a modem) and allow for printing services if a printer is attached to one of the other devices all in this closed “stand-alone” environment.
