A. For applicants who do not have a grade C or above in English and/or Maths, we can offer an examination (termed a special test) that is of an equivalent standard to GCSE in order to qualify for entry to the PGCE Secondary course. Please note we cannot offer these tests to everyone, they are offered to those candidates who apply and are considered to be a suitable candidate in every other respect. Candidates should also be aware that although all applications are welcomed, the PGCE Application process is selective and application in itself does not guarantee offer of an interview or offer of a place on the course. The special test is marked to the same standard as for a GCSE exam (internally by staff who are experienced GCSE examiners) and we require a pass grade equivalent to a grade C at GCSE. We can provide candidates with sample questions so they can practice and get up to speed with the sort of material that will be examined. A version of the above is available from the PGCE Offi
