The communications settings in the COMM OPTN menu are simply displays of whats inside the radio. These settings are only valid after the LOAD menu command is executed. When changes are made to the radio settings, the PROGRAM command must be used to actually write the changes to the radio. If there are no changes made to the radio settings, there is no need to use the PROGRAM command.
