A. Make sure the GPS unit is set to Garmin/Garmin-host or Data Transfer-Slave mode depending on the unit. Click on the box at the bottom of the UpdaterAVD application window to disable the high-speed communications setting. Make sure the battery power is at 3/4 or higher. Shut the GPS and computer off for 1 minute, then reboot and retry the update. Try putting the GPS unit in simulator mode. Close all programs that may be running in the background of Windows, such as HotSync and ActiveSync which are used with Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). We highly recommend that the user type CTRL+ALT+DEL one time to bring up the Task Manager and then select End Task for all programs other than Explorer, Systray and UpdaterAVD. If you receive the message “Unable to Establish Communications with Unit” you may be experiencing one of the following: 1. Poor connection between GPS and computer. 2.
