I can get Java Plug-in 1.3 software to install via an intranet by placing it on our Netscape Enterprise 3.0 SuiteSpot web server. Why not?
We’ve got reports that the Netscape Enterprise 3.0 SuiteSpot Webserver is unable, at least in some circumstances, to serve up .exe files. One workaround that has seemed to work is to configure the HTML so that the Java Plug-in product is installed by a Visigenic Orb Gatekeeper, which also functions as a web server.
