It could be many things, including your local machine, your network connection (modem, cable, or DSL), the campus network, the College of Engineering’s firewall, the College of Engineering’s network, or the machine you are trying to connect to. You should generally contact your Department Support Person for issues such as this. There is a list of Department Support staff at http://www.cae.wisc.edu/yourcomp/report/supportlist.shtml. If you are trying to connect to a CAE Linux machine, try another machine, call a consultant at 262-5349, or email helpdesk@cae.wisc.edu (if you are able). If you are trying to connect to your office machine, call Faculty Support at 262-6736 or email support@engr.wisc.edu (if you are able). By default, all incoming connections are blocked by a firewall. If you would like an incoming service to be allowed through the firewall, please contact faculty support at support@engr.wisc.edu or via telephone at 262-6736.
