Documents created with Microsoft Office 2007 is saved with the extension (.docx) and will not open in a lower version of Microsoft Office. If you are saving a file in Microsoft Office 2007 and is sending it to others, save the file in a lower version of Microsoft Office (e.g. Microsoft Office 2003 is saved with the extension [.doc]) by clicking “File, Save As, Word 97-2003 Document”. This is recommended until the College has officially switched over to the new version. There is another option for users who do not have Microsoft Office 2007 installed on their computer. There is a file format converter available. Users of the Microsoft Office XP and 2003 programs Word, Excel, or PowerPoint—please install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Compatibility Pack.
