I cannot get the Longbow Gold 3DFX patch to install, despite having a 3DFX Voodoo card installed. Any ideas?
There are known issues when trying to install the 3DFX patch on newer systems. When you run the installer, it says that a Voodoo card cannot be detected. You can get past this by making sure you have the ‘glide2x.dll’ file in either the ‘Windows’ or ‘Windows/system32’ folder – can’t remember which one. If you still have problems installing the patch, which I believe you might (I think I remember it saying that there were incorrect version game files installed), then open the patch installer exe with WinZip (or whatever Zip program you use) and manually extract the files to the LB Gold folder, and run the .bat or .exe file. Obviously, if you have a Voodoo card installed, be careful not to overwrite the cards drivers. I only recommend putting the .dll file in the said folders if you are using a glide wrapper. <> Q: I am running LB Gold through DOSBox and have the 3DFX patch installed successfully, along with a recommended glide wrapper. I can’t see the benefits of Glide in my game though
