The most common reason is that many lap top computers have power saver and screen saver features that automatically shut down the computer after a period of “inactivity”. The power saver and the screen saver may not realize that downloading data through your modem is a legitimate activity, so they may decide to shut down your laptop in the middle of your downloading. Go to your control panel and disabled them.
