The eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite provides you with recommended total Power Supply Wattage only, which gives you a general idea on what to look for in Power Supply. However, wattage is NOT crucial factor in Power Supply selection! Total Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important, followed by the +5V amperage and then the +3.3V amperage. Example: Power Supply that you would like to buy has 400W total wattage output but only has 16A on +12V rail. Depends on the Video Card and CPU selected you might easily rich 18-28A on +12V! Consequences? Best case scenario: your PSU has overload protection and it will shutdown the system. Worst case scenario: you might ‘fry’ some of your components, like motherboard, video card, hard drive, etc.
