I applied for a job several weeks ago and I still havent heard anything. Whats going on?
Be patient! The timing of hiring can be impacted by several factors which include the number of jobs being recruited at any given time, the volume of applications received, the workload of the department and/or division doing the hiring, holiday breaks and other unforeseen interruptions. Usually, candidates selected for interviews are referred to the hiring department within 1 week after a job’s application deadline. These candidates will be notified directly by the hiring department to schedule interviews, but these contacts may not occur immediately. If a hiring department is unable to fill a position from the initial referral of applicants, there may be a second or or even third round of interviewing or the position may be re-advertised. All candidates who submit a County application form by the stated deadline will be notified by mail at the time the job is filled.
