While it is true that wildcards are defined as part of the DNS specification in RFC 1034, the IAB has issued a statement that basically only advocates use of wildcards for MX records. The software we use to validate domain contents follows this recommendation. So, if you really want to do this, either set your permissions for AXFR so that they fail except for your slave servers, or remove wildcards from your zone file before submitting the application to us for processing.
