I am upgrading to Quicken WillMaker Plus 2009. Do I need to uninstall the older version first?
No. Keep your old version of Quicken WillMaker Plus until you have successfully converted and opened all of your documents files with the 2009 version. Before installing the new version, back up your Quicken WillMaker Plus documents files to a CD, flash drive, or other external medium. Next, install Quicken WillMaker Plus 2009, start the program, and open your WillMaker Plus documents files. Once a WillMaker Plus documents file is opened and converted to the 2009 portfolio format, you will be unable to open it using an older version of Quicken WillMaker Plus. When you first open a file created with an older version of Quicken WillMaker Plus, a “Pre-2009 Documents.pfl” file is automatically created in your “Nolo Documents Backup” folder. This file can be helpful if you’ve signed or amended a living trust using a pre-2009 version of Quicken WillMaker Plus. (See below.)
