I am trying to do my own usb to ethernet cable?

You cannot simply wire a USB port to an Ethernet cable and use the network. Your computer’s USB port does not use the same voltages and signaling standards as an Ethernet network. You can buy a USB Ethernet Adapte for less than $20 if that’s what you want to do. only 4 of the 8 cable are used in ether net, so if you know which ones your wire use, then you could do it in one shot, other wise you’ll probably have to make alot of them, or you could google for a detailed guide on how to do it
