I am thinking of taking out the grass in my yard and converting to desert scape. I have been told that I have to have 50% of the area planted, what does this mean?
If you are removing 1,000 square feet of grass, you have to score 500 points from the trees, shrubs, palms and plants that you put in once the grass has been removed. A tree might score as many as 250 points, and a shrub might only score 40 points. Different items have different points value. When your point’s value has reached half of the square feet of grass, then you have your 50%.
