im 18 – Prevacid is a proton-pump inhibitor. So are AcipHex, Nexium, Prilosec, and Protonox. Proton pump inhibitors work by blocking an enzyme in the stomach wall that is responsible for producing stomach acid. Therefore very little stomach bitter is produced.
