I am studying the Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) PY45, what studies do I need to do to be able to register as a psychologist in Australia?
In order to meet the accreditation requirements of the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and register as a psychologist in Australia you will need to undertake a fourth year of study by either undertaking: 1 the Postgraduate Diploma in Pyschology PY20 course or 2 the Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Honours Psychology) PY09 course Both of these courses provide provisional registration as a psychologist with the Psychologist Registration Board of Queensland. To be eligible for full registration with the Psychologist Registration Board of Queensland you must then either undertake two years of supervised practice or undertake an accredited Masters course (IX20 or PY18) which involve two years of course work and supervised practicums. Entry into PY09 and PY20 is competitive based on your grade point average in PY45.
