I am starting wedding/event planning business and will be needing planners. How do I pay them?
One of my recent “New Business” clients started a Planning company. Her biggest challenge was determining the pricing for her services. I have worked with other event planning companies that have had the same issues. If you are “running” the business and doing the majority of the sales you must make a commission. However, if your planners will be actually doing the work than they need to make the majority of the money. You will get a cut off the top of the total bill. The best way to price these services is to offer a package rate for a pre-packed set of services involved with planning an event. Offer individual services that can be purchased on their own or added to an existing package for an additional cost. You can alternatively charge an hourly rate to your customers and take a cut off the top. There are many companies out there who have either type of pricing structure.
