I am not familiar with scanners and the scanning process. How important is the handling of the scannable forms?
In order for the scanner to accurately scan your sheets/booklets and collect good data, it is very important that the forms be handled and processed correctly. Below are listed some tips that can help ensure successful scanning. • Booklets should be carefully separated along the perforation, whether by hand or with a cutter. Sheets that have an uneven edge or tears in to the sheet will not scan correctly. • Repair a sheet if it has been torn or damaged. Straighten out bent edges. If a sheet cannot be repaired, copy the marks from the damaged sheet onto a new sheet for scanning. Note: Tape on a sheet can change the thickness of a sheet enough to cause an error message. • Fanning the sheets by holding them in one hand and then running your other hand across the edge of the sheets will help separate sheets that may be stuck together. • It is important to jog (either with a jogger machine or by hand) the stack of sheets on the timing mark edge to get them all in line.
