I am interested in going overseas this summer to volunteer – can I do the Millennium Volunteers Award while I’m away?
From 2010, the MV Award programme includes overseas volunteering, so long as the person doing it is living in Wales and that there is some benefit to Wales in the volunteering – in other words, you might consider how you will share with others what you have learnt abroad, when you come home. Any planning, training and fundraising you do in the UK before going abroad can be counted. There are a number of organisations funded to run overseas volunteering through the GwirVol International Grants programme and you might want to find out from your local Volunteer Centre or from www.gwirvol.org how you could be involved with one of those.
