I am in a BA Honours Degree Program in Psychology. What is the difference between the Essay Stream and the Thesis Stream?
Students who have a Psychology GPA of 9.0 or higher at the end of second year and want to complete a thesis in fourth year, will apply to take an Honours Seminar in third year. (Please note: if you want to go on to do Graduate work, Masters, Ph.D, most universities require a thesis.) These students will then apply in third year to complete a thesis (PSYC 4908) in fourth year. Please see the BA Honours suggested program layout. Students who have a Psychology GPA of less than 9.0 or students who are not interested in doing a thesis will register for the Essay, PSYC 4905 in fourth year. These students will not take a seminar in third year. Instead, they will take an extra two half credits in Psychology at the 3000 level or above to replace the seminar credit.
