You can go to your local authority ( district court) and file a claim against the landlord. You can ask for your security deposit back as well as any fee’s that you occur in the process. It is recommended that you sent a certified letter to the landlord explaining that they have 10 days ( which is minimum amount of time but you can set a time period to your liking after 10 days) and explain that you will be taking legal action if you do not recieve your deposit back with in that time. If you still do not receive it you take proof that you sent this letter ( you will receive from post office at time of sending) and they will send out a letter and if needs to go to court ( small proceeding) the court will award all fees you had to pay to you (if found in your favor). Courts really look down on landlords who do this sort of thing and will make them think twice before messing with another tenant as it can get very costly for them.
