If your underlying Windows Operating System does not have the latest patches, there may a problem with a component that Election Magic uses. You may get a pop-up window that looks like the figure on page 90 of your manual (you may also get a similar-looking one that says “HITIME/X” instead of “FTP/X”). Most often this problem can be fixed by updating your operating system (Microsoft has an automated operating system update facility at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com). If you have updated your operating system and you are still experiencing this problem you will need to install two patches that can be found on your Election Magic CD.
