I am currently using the Issuer Information System/Bulletin Board System (IIS/BBS) to submit my quarterly data. What is its relationship to EDI?
IIS/BBS comprises two systems, the Issuers Information System (IIS) and the Ginnie Mae Bulletin Board System (BBS). IIS is used to create data files for pool, loan, and SSCRA submissions; however, it does not create EDI datasets. The IIS formats the files in Ginnie Maes proprietary file formats, whereas with EDI the files are translated into a format that complies with ANSI ASC X12 EDI standards. The BBS is an electronic file depository that allows both IIS and EDI files to be uploaded/downloaded. If you choose to use the BBS for EDI, you will have access to upload/download files electronically.
