I am considering becoming more involved with the PTA next year. How will next year’s Board be put together?

A. A few cynics might respond, “Arm twisiting!” but It’s not QUITE that painful. Every year the current board faces the daunting task of finding their own replacements. The process begins in early spring and is officially the job of the Parliamentarian. In point of fact, everyone helps. The first step is to identify who wishes to continue their work with the PTA. Thankfully some do, although many indicate a willingness to step aside if others would like to try the job. Some people opt to switch jobs for a new challenge. Our Board officers – President, Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Auditor, Historian and Parliamentarian – are limited to two consecutive one year terms. The tradition at Willett has been to have two co-presidents, one new and one returning. Once we have a clear idea of what positions will be open, we start advertising in Who’s News, describing the duties and time commitments for each.
