I am completing a doctoral degree in experimental psychology but wish to practise clinical psychology. Can I still get registered?
Yes, you will still be eligible for registration as long as your doctoral degree conforms to the guidelines for acceptable doctoral degrees leading to eligibility for registration as a psychologist. However, as all members of the College are guided by the knowledge, skills, and training outlined in the area of practice definitions, you will have to identify any deficiencies in your formal training and augment these elements through completion of graduate coursework or the equivalent. You can undertake this training during completion of your degree, afterwards by completing a formal respecialization program at a university, or during your period of authorized supervised practice. For further information, please see the College s guidelines for retraining.
